SWOLAN UPDATE

The wait is almost over, I’ve decided to upload Swolan at midnight tonight. Very stoked and excited to share this one with you all.

I didn’t know what this video was going to be when I first started this project three years ago. Swampy and Nolan had tagged me in a few really good clips and I’d started flowing them boards, and it really grew from there. I told em “Film a part and I’ll put you on the team". I do that with most potential riders. The funny thing about these lads though is that despite them filming with their friends at their local parks and putting clips on instagram all the time they will admit that they didn’t really know how to approach filming an actual video part.

Here’s where it got fun, we started going out and filming with em. Now I kind of envisioned a joint part that has a couple of doubles tricks and runs for about three minutes or so, I mean we could have just released the intro video credits really as an intro video, but the more we skated with them and the more stuff that we got, the video started to have a life of its own a little bit, it made sense for them to have separate standalone parts. As time went on, somewhere along the line we needed to figure out a name for this one, it was a fairly simple idea really, Swampy + Nolan = SWOLAN.

There were a couple of hurdles along the way, that’s why it took so long, Nolan got hurt right away, and then there was a global pandemic that you may have heard of, so that slowed things down a bit. In retrospect though, I think this is coming out at the exact right time that it needed to. Having the name in place and a deadline helped a lot with finishing this one up, lots of stuff was filmed in the last few weeks and it replaced older footage. I think it really does their skating justice and captures them both so well. Eternal thanks to Swampy and Nolan for working with me on this project and being patient and trusting my vision for it. Means the world to me lads. Thanks to all the riders who sent in footage and made it possible to make a really great rider montage/friend part. Thanks to Arthur J Reptillian and all the other bands who let us use songs on this one. (It’s not out yet, so I don’t want to give too much away) Thanks to all the filters who contributed clips too. And thanks anyone reading this, does anyone still read stuff on websites? Anyway, you’ve all been very patient about this one coming out.

My friend Goofy loves Halloween, it’s his favorite movie and his favorite Holiday, so when he saw the Shelloween board that I’d made he jumped at the chance to make a little video for it. We posted this on instagram but it got cut off for some reason right before the end and the titles, but here’s the full length one for your eyeballs. Board is sold out at Baker Boys, but in stores now!!

Holiday Catalog Drop

Heroin Holiday 2023 catalog just dropped last week and it’s a good one!! Debut Swampy Pro Model, Savages pro series, Curb Killer 5, Bail Gun Gary 3! Our widest egg yet besides the Eggzilla! The Wide Boy coming in just a little over 10.75 wide! Curb Crusher from Barf Comics, and the Anatomy is back this time on a gold foil! Oh and can’t forget the Shelloween special board!

SWOLAN

We screened Swolan a week ago for the first time for a private audience at Baker Boys Distribution, Swampy went Pro, it was a great time. There’s been some shop screenings this past week too, and we did a night at Unmodern on Friday too which was a blast. We were trying to release the video on YouTube on Saturday or Monday, but we’ve unfortunately had a delay due to some music licensing. It’s all going ahead though, just means we have to wait for some paperwork to come through before we can share this one with you. It’s with the wait. Like I said, thanks for your patience!

Dead Dave Live From California

This August, Dead Dave flew out to California to skate with us for nine days. It was epic, besides the 114 degree heat every day. We had a blast, skated, ate good food, did a few day trips, and got loads of footage. I was up at my cabin a couple of weeks ago and sat down and edited it all in to “Dead Dave Live from California”.

I edited the whole thing myself from the ground up, I feel like it really gets across the fun that we had during that week. Come back soon Dave,, we miss you!


Check in

Hey, so you’re on the website? Wow, that’s pretty novel, it’s all Instagram, Tik Tok, Twitter and Snapchat these days, at least according to the kids. I can’t really get my head around Tik Tok or Snapchat, so don’t expect much from me there, Twitter too, I just go on there and get annoyed by politicians mainly. Instagram is good though, I mean the ads these days are a bummer, and you can’t really check anything out without someone shoving sales down your throat. Well, I’m glad you’re here, I used to update these things quite a bit, but it’s been a while I think, just up at my cabin and thought I’d take a bit of time and update a few things here and there. It’s December 9th, so our Egg-Vent calendar is in full effect over on the old Gram. Worth a look if you’re into egg shaped skateboards at all.

So what else is new? Well, I’m chipping away at some video stuff while I’m here, there’s a couple of things I’m working on at the moment. More news soon, but I’m very happy with how they’re going. Had a setback the other week when my desktop computer died and I had to get a new hard drive, I lost 9 years worth of stuff. Of course it wasn’t backed up, don’t be ridiculous. Ha ha. So I’ve really been dealing with the aftermath of that and trying to catch up on a few projects.

Heroin Spring is looking good and being made now, that launches in February. I’m finishing up Summer now and I’m really stoked on it so far. Anyway, that was it really, check the Egg-vent calendar on instagram, keep an eye out for video news, and look after yourselves. We live in weird times.
